- Are under 35 years old at the time of application

- Hold or have held a valid student visa in the last 6 months
Let’s break down the main options under the Temporary Graduate Visa. Each stream caters to different qualifications and career goals.
Post-Vocational Education Work Stream
For graduates with a diploma or trade qualification related to an occupation on Australia's Skilled Occupation List.
- Duration: Up to 18 months
- Requirements:
- Skills assessment for the nominated occupation
- Qualification must be closely related to an occupation on the Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL)
- Pathway: Potential to transition to employer-sponsored or skilled migration visas
Post-Higher Education Work Stream
For graduates with a higher education degree (Bachelor’s or above) from an Australian institution.
- Duration:
- Bachelor’s degree: Up to 2 years
- Master’s degree (coursework): Up to 2 years
- Master’s degree (research): Up to 3 years
- Doctoral degree (PhD): Up to 4 years
- Requirements:
- Qualification must be from a CRICOS-registered course
- No requirement for the occupation to be on the Skilled Occupation List
- Pathway: Opportunity to gain work experience and pursue permanent residency
Second Post-Higher Education Work Stream
For graduates who have previously held a Temporary Graduate visa and have lived and studied in a designated regional area.
- Duration: Up to 2 years, depending on the regional area
- Requirements:
- Must have completed a degree-level qualification in a regional area
- Must have held a previous Post-Higher Education Work Stream visa
- Pathway: Encourages continued residence and work in regional Australia, supporting regional development
