Temporary Skill Shortage Visa
“Your Gateway to Working in Australia.”
Looking to take your career overseas? The Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (Subclass 482) might be your best first step. At Auslife Migration Consultants, we work closely with skilled professionals and employers to navigate this streamlined visa program that allows overseas workers to temporarily live and work in Australia.
This visa helps Australian businesses fill urgent roles when qualified local talent isn’t available. With the right skills and employer sponsorship, you could find yourself working in one of Australia’s high-demand industries—and potentially opening a path to permanent residency.
By securing a TSS 482 visa, you’ll enjoy:
- The right to live and work in Australia for up to four years
- The ability to include family members on your visa
- Unlimited travel to and from Australia during the visa validity
- A pathway to permanent residency through employer-sponsored visas
- The opportunity to build career experience in a globally competitive market
This visa is ideal if you:
- Have a job offer from an approved Australian employer
- Possess the skills and qualifications required for the nominated occupation
- Have at least one year of full-time work experience in your field within the last five years
- Meet the minimum English language requirement
- Are in good health and character
From application to approval, we’ll walk you through every requirement with confidence and clarity.
The TSS 482 visa offers different streams depending on your occupation and the employer’s need. Here’s a breakdown of the options:
Short-Term Stream
For employers addressing immediate, short-term skill gaps.
- Valid for up to 2 years (renewable once onshore)
- Suitable for occupations on the Short-Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL)
- Does not lead directly to permanent residency
Medium-Term Stream
For longer-term roles in high-demand industries.
- Valid for up to 4 years
- For occupations on the Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL)
- Eligible for permanent residency via the Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186) after 2 years (as of 2025 update)
Labour Agreement Stream
For roles covered by a labour agreement between an employer and the Australian Government.
- Terms vary based on the specific agreement
- Typically used for niche or high-demand roles where local supply is limited
- May lead to permanent residency, depending on agreement terms
